Teaching of British Values at Cumberland |
Since September 2014 it has been a requirement to teach the British Values of the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance of different faiths and beliefs.
Cumberland Infant School has always taught these values through our School Ethos
(‘Safe’, ‘Healthy’, ‘Achieving’, ‘Partnership’ and Enjoyment’), our Learning Values (‘Thinking’, ‘Collaboration’, ‘Independence’ and ‘WOW’) our teaching of SMSC (Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural) and the National Curriculum.
These values may be as part of a lesson, or assembly, via a visitor or visit, our School Council or if the need arises a specific Circle Time will be arranged to address a particular issue.
