Our Year 2 children came into the classroom to find fingerprints, potatoes, a faceless Mr. Potato Head and this note!

We had to work out what it said.....

                Back to topics

Our Year 2 children found out that  a potato robber stole some pieces of our Mr Potato Head!

To get them back they have to come up with some interesting baked potato fillings!

The Year 2 children investigating!

The Year 2 children started investigating their classroom to try and find some clues...

DT skills

The Year 2 children got to work with some DT skills in preparation for their baked potato fillings! They learnt and practiced a variety of skills in order to help them be prepared before creating their own baked potato fillings!

They had lots of fun practicing slicing, chopping, grating, peeling, sprinkling, weighing, sifting, mixing, whisking, crumbling, dolloping, spooning, squirting and cutting.

Biscuit Making!

After a week of learning the biscuit recipe text and creating  some actions to remember it, the Year 2 children finally got to  make their long-awaited, delicious biscuits.

As you can see they had lots of fun - especially when it came to taste testing them!

Topic Outcome - Taste Testing Our Potato Fillings!

This is the part of the Topic that all the children wait excitedly for... taste-testing their chosen fillings! Before this stage, all of the children taste-tested a variety of different ingredients in order to pick their final fillings!

As you can see, there were some approvals and disapprovals. All of the fillings were prepped by the children themselves in their groups using all of their DT skills that they have been practising previously.

The children then wrote down their findings to the Potato Robber to persuade him to return our Mr Potato Head parts in return for an interesting potato filling that they have made.  The children never fail to disappoint him, as he liked them all!
