Amelia Andrews

I moved to Portsmouth in 1999 to study English at the University of Portsmouth. After leaving university I completed a diploma in Stage Management and Technical Theatre and spent some time working in theatre as well as teaching at a drama school. It was then that I decided that teaching was going to become my future and I have now been teaching in Hampshire (in and out of the city) for 13 years.

Despite spending a lot of that time teaching Film and Media Studies, English has remained a passion of mine and since my son started infant school at Cumberland I have become interested in his developmental journey, particularly in English. Having lived just around the corner from the school for 8 years, I have a real interest in the community and Cumberland Infant School and it is for this reason that I was keen to take on a role as governor to support the school and its pupils.

Having accepted the link governor role for English my aim is to help to ensure that the School's many strengths are maintained, that children continue to develop a real love of learning and that they are supported in the first stages of their education, and move onto the next, sharing my particular passion for English and  reading.
